Horning Rebukes Bucshon
Freedom, IN – One of our US House of Representatives’ most profligate spenders, Larry Bucshon (R) released a statement claiming that today’s “…relentless surge in inflation is a direct result of the reckless tax and spend policies championed by the Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats.”
This is only half the truth. The other half is that Republicans are equally to blame.
While one could reasonably argue over which party is the most profligate in spending, fraud, partisan divisiveness, insider trading and other corruption, there is no uncertainty about who’s to blame for both past periods of inflation, and today’s acceleration to the cliff of socioeconomic collapse:
Both (D) and (R).
Nobel Prize winning monetary economist Milton Friedman said that “Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon, in the sense that it is and can be produced only by a more rapid increase in the quantity of money than in output.” The Federal Reserve’s “Quantitative Easing” is a euphemism for monetizing political debts by rapidly multiplying their supply of literal monopoly money. In 2020 was the most rapid and increase in the M1 monetary supply ever – from ~$4 trillion in January of that year, to ~$17 trillion by October. That M1 money supply is now ~$21 trillion.
In short, they’ve been counterfeiting; which in the massive scale of their operations, decreases the value of every dollar-denominated transaction, debt, and currency. This phenomenon has been going on to a much lesser, but still significant degree, since 1913, and has always been one of the major complaints made by Libertarian Party candidates (and just a few Republicans like Ron Paul, Justin Amash and Thomas Massie).
Andrew Horning, the Libertarian candidate for Indiana’s 8th US House district, has, for over twenty five years, proposed a rapid return to constitutional monetary policy by a simple, four-step plan described here:
