Donn, I'd agree with you if we had voters who'd do that. But until we go through a lot more trouble, I don't see the collective epiphany we'd need. If you look through all the past posts on this blog, and indeed everything I've done for the past 15 years, you'd see I'd put my eggs into the basket of existing constitutions, as written.
But I'm planning for the possibility that by the time we come to our senses, the existing constitutions and social order will be irrelevant/old history.
Sure; I still hope that what both you and Nicolas suggest could work.
But at what point does it become wise to consider a Plan B?
I've done what y'all suggest for years, and I've not been alone. But we're heading the wrong way so fast that if somebody doesn't think about grave consequences soon, there'll be no more time left.

I've already answered your question, Andrew.

1. Read and become well-informed about libertarian (not Libertarian Party) principles. Newcomers to libertarianism stand on very shaky philosophical foundations.

2. Organize, organize, organize

3. Do libertarian journalism. Not just opinion-mongering; actual journalism. YouTube and blogs is a powerful media.

4. Don't waste time on pie-in-the-sky, like new constitutions.

If anyone in Indiana wants to work with me on libertarian YouTube journalism projects, send me a note at myfirstname [at] martinworld.com. (Not that this thwarts spammers, but hope springs.)

Andy,

The way to restore the Republic is to elect city, county, and state officials with the knowledge, courage, and desire to uphold and defend the Constitution. Article I, section 8, and the 10th amendment provide all that is needed.

Thank you for the insightful comments. You've reminded us of the perniciousness of ignorance and the inevitability of human societies' collapse.

This isn't an either/or proposition, Nicolas. I too have tried to whip up some interest in YouTube videos and such - I'd written several scripts that I thought would be both fun and useful (I never got a nibble from this, for example http://wedeclare.wordpress.com/2008/02/06/calling-all-videographersvideo-producers%e2%80%a6/ ). But there are two problems that both of us face:
1. not everybody agrees with us.
2. we still wish they would.

I don't know what you're doing or planning. Maybe you have a plan and you're acting on it. I know that's what I'm doing.

No single person's actions change the world, no matter what song lyrics say. It's agreement that changes stuff. I've tried all sorts of things trying to find agreement, and I'm not done trying.

I want a simple thing; I want to live in peace. If you know how to accomplish that, I'm listening...

Sorry, bad edit. I means to say, "I’m confident that a new constitution will NOT avert the apocalypse you are expecting."

We agree on that, but I'm confident that a new constitution will avert the apocalypse you are expecting. I'm afraid that apocalyptic references and the aversion to "incrememtalism," serve as an excuse to avoid grunt organizing work. There will be no victories without grassroots organizing of the sort the Left has long done well. If libertarians leave a void, in hard times Americans will join collectivist Left, Right, and populist movements.

There have been, and presently are, countries in much worse shape than this one where people have risked their lives in the construction of freedom movements. The US needs many well-organized opposition movements, and strong libertarian journalism. Maybe you are better suited to the latter since you write clearly and do well in front of cameras.

I've tried to interest Indy libertarians in doing YouTube-style journalism, but they are either planning their next campaigns or waiting for the next event where they can hold up a sign for an hour. Freedom is hard work.
